Thank you Mayor

Posted by bub on April 25, 2008 - 11:41pm

A big thank you to the mayor and all involved (including the posters here on sbp and the original source) for finally bringing what we have talked about for ages here. And may I state what I have said before..check the US and Canadian Gov't websites Chlorine Dioxide is a registered pesticide..how do YOU feel about being a guinea pig?
"South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Gwen Gilbert and Grey-Bruce-Owen Sound MP Larry Miller are promising to raise questions about an eight-year-old, University of Toronto drinking water experiment in Wiarton.

The mayor was reacting to a federal court ruling that National Sciences and Engineering Research Council officials did not have to order an investigation into questions about research involving chlorine dioxide in drinking water in Wiarton. Both she and Miller expect to work “to get some accountability,” Gilbert said.

Willie passed right over

Posted by garym on February 2, 2008 - 11:42am

Or maybe the better word is 'snubbed'? We got up this morning in time to join the Prediction live over the international Wiarton Willie media coverage ...

  • pulled up the willie website, and it was slow going to get it, but all it said was a few stock paragraphs about birds and flowers of spring and a link to someone's old video. the sidebar-link said "Willie Festival" but that lead us to the Town homepage where the one and only Willie icon link lead us right back to that canned blurb on spring!

More $$ for Willy???

Posted by thefyreplaceguy on November 15, 2007 - 12:04am

"Consultant sees cash cow in albino groundhog; Proper branding could turn one day a year fame into a year-round marketing celebrity"

I see our council has now hired a consulting firm to market "The Rodent". What the hell is the matter with these people? Again wasting our tax dollars on a captured wild animal being imprisoned in a cage. We have a world class beach which can draw more people on a Friday afternoon in June than that rodent can attract in 5 years. Another waste of $$

Wiarton's Watergate gets to Court

Posted by garym on October 31, 2007 - 9:01am

Good to know that somebody out there still cares about our national scientific integrity in general and our local community health in particular, even if it is only just a bunch of students ... The Canadian Federation of Students go to court today seeking to coerce the NSERC watchdogs into actually watching the 'research' that wound its way into our municipal tap water:

Tim Hortons in Wiarton

Posted by mxyzptlk on May 17, 2007 - 7:19am

I thought ex-councillor Kirkland bought the old Wiarton school property to build an senior's home and daycare centre. I also thought part of the building was to be saved. Now I see in the paper that the town gets $450,000 and a Tim's is going in. Maybe I'm confused about the properties. Can someone explain what is going on?

Posted by garym on April 9, 2007 - 10:22am

This one from the Easter front page of the online Echo: Banff gets the odd moose, Churchill gets polar bears, Tokyo gets all sorts of kai-ju, and Wiarton? Wiarton gets monster wild turkeys! I knew all this talk of nuclear waste storage was going to get us into trouble ...
