Some Notes on Hamthrax Mania
Some words of sanity from Dan T on the topic of all those ubiquitous hand-wash stations being thrust at us everywhere we turn, and with the peak infection cycle due to hit in another week or two, I expect there will be many more to come ...
A couple of things to remember:
- Influenza is spread by a virus, this is important! It means that anti-bacterials do NOT work on it!
- Face masks do not protect you from infection unless they can filter out viruses. They protect others from being infected by you by trapping the spray from sneezes and coughs before they have a chance to dry out and shrink small enough to sneak through.
- Hand sanitizer does NOTHING against influenza! Wash your hands for real. Use soap. Twice. You can wash the virus away, but you won't kill it in place. Keep some hand lotion at your desk or in your lunchbox if you are prone to dry skin.
emphasis is mine ;)

Add ten drops tea tree oil and a few drops of sage essential oil to your hand sanitizers, that will kill off viruses. :)
