Now hear me out on this, because it is good, it's smooth, a little sweet but not overtly so, simple and elegant, very portable, very easy and very fast, tailor made for the BBQ or pool-side jam party, and so very very nice. Trust me.
After a lot of deliberation, I've decided to call this the 'Sauble Sunrise' because that just spells out exactly what it is and everything about it can be obtained right here in Sauble Beach, but it might be more proper to call it a Sauble Delight, and I have described it to others as a Poor Man's Marguerita and that's apt too ...
ring a wine glass with a slice of lime and roll the edge in sea salt, toss in two ice cubes; pour the tequila and triple-sec over the ice and add Sunny-D™ (Original flavour!). Stir gently and serve.
100% made-in-Sauble, this one. The Sauble LCBO on Main Street has a choice of Bronze Tequilas and of course has the Triple-Sec, you can get Sunny-D at Kirkland's Valu-Mart and perhaps from Joseph's (which has a new name) and ditto for the salt and the lime; Sunny-D is definately at Kirklands (might work with the 'California' blend too) but may also be at Joseph's, Lakeshore or even at Macs. Although Lake Huron is freshwater, I highly recommend using sea-salt for a richer bite.
This drink could only happen here and it sings out for sunsets and seagulls! There is a definite edge of lime in Sunny-D, but you might want to put the lime slice as a garnish. It is the particular blend of citrus flavours that really sets this apart from your usual tequila sunrise, the Triple-Sec tames the popsicle citric sweetness and it's the semi-bitter edge of the Sunny-D that begs for the salt. It also provides 100% of your daily Vitamin-C!
