The South Bruce Peninsula election results are now posted on the town site ... as PDF files. For those who prefer their information online, here's the bird's eye low-down on this election caper in straight-up HTML:

  • Mayor Results: Carl Nobel (3527), Ana Vukovic (2990)

  • Councillors:
    • Ward 1:
John Close (acclaimed), Pat Varley (acclaimed)

    • Ward 2:
Yvonne Harron (847), Jay Kirkland (736), James Simpson (433), Bob Thomas(330)

    • Ward 3:
Brian Fulford (1049), Jason Simpson (432), Robert Watson (677), Mark Wunderlich (1137)

    • Ward 4:
Gwen Gilbert (1248), Stan Hoath (933), Dan Kerr (737)

Those candidates elected (I think) are in bold type. All typographical errors are my own. For official counts and breakdowns by ballot box, please see the linked PDF files or contact Bill Johnston (534-1400 ext 121) at the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

And on the question of dropping the ward system for an open vote across all candidates and all regions, the referrendum is defeated with 2838 in favour, 3329 against.

Referrendum is not binding

Annette Robson writes via email to expand a bit on that referrendum question: Apparently, because our voter turn out was less than 50%, while those who did vote were in favour of _keeping_ the ward system, the decision is not binding.
