UWO reports on a project to give 133 undergraduate medical students an opportunity to experience community medical practice in 34 small communities across Southwestern Ontario ...

“This program is vital to helping students graduate with the knowledge, skills and interest to pick rural or regional practice as a career choice,” says Dr. Jim Silcox, Vice Dean, Education. “Rural and regional education and training is a top priority at Western. Individuals are getting that opportunity to practice in a smaller centre in first year, and that’s influencing the directions they consider as they complete medical school and enter residency programs.”
