Hello all,
I don't know how many people know this, but Marj Lipka was seriously injured in a car accident on Sunday. If anyone has any details, please share them. And in the meantime, please join me in saying a prayer for this gracious, hard-working lady who means so much in the community.

Fire and Fireworks _ controlled or out of control?

Posted by Hew Jass on June 29, 2008 - 10:51pm

Another long weekend and lots of fires barely under control and fireworks every which way.......just what are the regulations about bon fires and what are the regulations concerning fireworks...or are there any enforceable regulations and just exactly who enforces them?

New Feature: The SBPersonalized Home Page

Posted by garym on June 29, 2008 - 8:04pm

Have you ever wished there was just one webpage where you could get everything in a glance and then get on with whatever else you were doing?

portal.jpg

When I sit down here at my desk, I check Facebook, I check my twitter feed, my news feed, I check the weather, the local news and I check up on the scuttlebutt 'round the SBP, and that was a lot of webpages to flip through. Now, thanks to GoogleApps, I can do all this and more all at once, all woven into one easy portal page readable from anywhere

Gilbert cleared in audit

Posted by mxyzptlk on June 27, 2008 - 6:17am

An article in today's (June 27, 2008) Sun Times states that Mayor Gilbert "has been cleared of accusations she erroneously reported her election expenses". I wonder how much this audit cost you and me as taxpayers? It is my opinion that Carl Noble and John Close (the sore losers) should have to reimburse the municipality for this expense incurred because of their frivolous accusations!

The Bruce County website shows an application for a Canadian Tire store with 3 pump gas bar just south of Wiarton.

That is all I need - another excuse to spend money with them!!

Tap Water

Posted by wolfkodiak on June 13, 2008 - 3:42pm

got a link to an email that was sent to the Sun Times. It addresses the water from Wiarton issue better than any I have heard yet. I don't know if this has been posted by anyone else yet but it bears enough fruit to share again if it has.
I will post the link and print it out as well. It really makes interesting reading. No wonder our little
willie is white. He has been drinking Wiarton water from the bay.

Is tap water really that pure?

Contaminants of all kinds have been dumped into the source of our drinking water

Editor:

On Monday evening at the Owen Sound city council meeting a councillor suggested we all get rid of our bottled water and drink tap water only.

Taking Ownership

Posted by Hew Jass on June 13, 2008 - 12:51pm

Seems as though the topic of who is responsible for tenant actions has raised a few hairs. I think that to answer this question and to be fair to those who supplement their earnings at Sauble Beach, one has to ask the question: What is Sauble Beach, what has made it what it is and where is it headed? Sauble is many things to many people. This forum is as good a spot as any for them to speak out. Maybe it is time to reinvent our mascot at the same time....something less forgettable than Sunny the Sauble Seagull. Even Willie winds my imagination more than our smiley garbage hawk.
