The Wonder of Saugeen
Inspired by international efforts to refine the list of World Wonders, the CBC is on the hunt for the Seven Wonders of Canada, and the list of nominees has been whittled down to include man-mades like the CN-Tower, the Museum of Civilization, the Vimy Memorial and Montreal Bagels, and natural spectaculars like Mt Thor, Haida Gwaii and Manitoulin.
And there, midst the latter group, a familiar old friend, and easily the only Wonder of the World known to go great with ice cream ...
"People in the area cite an old national geographic article as the reason there's so much buzz about their sunsets. Upon closer investigation, no such article was ever proven to exist, but the sunsets speak for themselves. On summer evenings, locals and tourists end their day at Saugeen Shores with 'ice cream and sunsets'. What could be more wonderful?"

For those who wonder, the beaches to qualify for the shortlist only include Manitoba's 3km teen-mecca dune-lands up at Grand Beach and Vancouver's organic bare-bottom Wreck Beach. For the full list of nominees, check out CBC's Wonders of Canada page where you can add your own memories to the memoires and vote on your personal favourites.
Me, I'm all for the bagels, in both categories. yum ... bagels ...
