SARS in Owen Sound?
Whoa ... this is kinda frightening: Owen Sound Sun Times is reporting that we indeed had a case of SARS, mis-diagnosed back in March (before there were conclusive tests) and sent home again ...
the young man, who is believed to have contracted the highly infectious severe acute respiratory syndrome in Singapore, had it when he was examined at Owen Sound
Health officials say everyone in contact with the man went into voluntary quarantine and no further cases were reported, but considering how easily the virus slipped between healthcare institutions in Toronto, we can count ourselves incredibly lucky, especially considering the density of seniors in these woods.
This also shows that we shouldn't take anything for granted, like thinking world-travel is something only done by city-folk. During that initial outbreak, over March and April, I had passed up on several potential contracts because we didn't want to travel to Toronto, and I felt a little silly about it at the time, but in retrospect, maybe it wasn't so paranoid after all.
