Google Maps the Beach

Posted by garym on April 4, 2005 - 11:06pm

Hey! I can see my house from here! Ok, maybe it's not one-meter spy-sat resolution and it's not real-time live and up to the minute ... not yet, but the new Google Maps project does have at least a low-orbit view of big chunks of this planet, and more than enough zoomable resolution over the SBP to let us plot our next hike through the woods! Check it out: Click into Sauble Beach from Outer Space for a beautiful blue-sea clear-sky view of our Huron shores!

where is the lost island of sable?

umm hey Cap'n Gary Highliner...where is the lost island on that picture?

If you want to check out some excellent satellite images check out Keyhole (www.keyhole.com) - Google acquired them and you can use the 7 day trial version of the software to give it a test run. It is quite impressive and let's you zoom in a lot closer than what Google maps is providing currently.

Enjoy!

Why bother with tourism?

That's the question posted by Shreddies.org where the bloggers wonder why put up with the reservations, the lineups, hotels, rental cars and all that stuff when you can just sail right over and see the world from a mile high!

and no cracks please about mile-high tourists, just check out the site and see all those state-side sights you thought you'd never get around to seeing, from Neverland to Big Luecke, and with a few that are only really interesting because of how they turned out in the map-arrangements

Oh, and da-- it's not missing. Everybody round here knows Sauble Island sank, like totally, over a hundred years ago...
