Gotta hand it to the 'hog, he's always right, but this time he's really right.

White-out conditions reported up near the Dundalk highlands, 10cm of snow forecast for Owen Sound, and I still have to cover my bonzai overnight.

There's maybe no fresh snow on the beach this morning, but there is still a massive glacier unmoved down the full length of the lakeshore drive, and my kids can still walk out over the half-meter icepack on our front lawn without even denting the surface.

All of which is going to make for some interesting grimaced faces in the photo-galleries for Deck Day ...

Chill Winds for Deck Day

For those from away or who don't visit the beach off-season, Deck Day is a first day of spring beach tradition where residents submit a photo of themselves, in summer short-pants regalia, seated in a lawn chair, on their front deck ... and regardless of the weather. The photos are submitted to the community centre and line the hallway leading into the annual Deck Day Dance --- whether in respect for the groundhog's prognostications or just because, if you missed the equinox photo-op, you still have until March 27th to sneak in your late submissions.

The annual Sauble Beach Deck Day Dance will feature the Geoff Stevens Band, tickets available at all the usual outlets.
