forcast for today is headed for the low 20C's and as the snow recedes and the roads bare, thoughts wander to the shed and that moment when you crack the doors and pull the bike out for the first time; people in warmer climates probably miss this, but there's something about it, the smell of the vault, the grit that seems to have crystalized on the frame, that comforting soft cl-tink cl-tink cl-tink of the chain around the gears.

I've never lived near mountains. I'm from Winnipeg where our idea of mountain biking is hurling down the underpass by the Viscount Gort. South Bruce isn't Whistler, but it's got it's share of terrain, from the impossible rock cliffs out up Cape Croker way to the smooth sailing country roads through the ruralness of the Lake Huron shoreline. If there's any fault of the cycling trails in this neighbourhood, it's them being too many and too long, not something you can sneak into a lunch hour, it's a pack your lunch and go proposition.
