Sauble Beach Sewer and Water - the reality
Thanks to Dick Waugh's editorial, of the Owen Sound Sun Times, for telling it like it is in Sauble Beach regarding sewer and water.
Water and sewers for Sauble?; Don't hold your breath!
Makes for interesting reading.

The Collector Hwy #13
Further to garym’s blog “The Bicycle Highway”, I’m surprised no one has yet identified the bigger picture regarding the upcoming upgrades to County Road 13 from Ferndale to Southampton.
On September 2, 2004 Bruce County Council released its Revised Bruce County Road Designation Study Final Report. This report states that the councils of Northern and South Bruce Peninsula support a Collector Road from the Oliphant corner on County Road 13 to County Road 9 west of Ferndale. Schedule D of this report sets out budget costs of over $8 million for this upgrade (2004 figures).

Metering Private Water Wells
The water that comes out of the ground in many areas of the province is undrinkable in its raw form—and not necessarily for bacteriological reasons. Where we live, it needs to he variously filtered, deionized, softened, UV treated and finally tested in a private lab.
However, if private water systems are now to be metered, perhaps government will also consider making this equipment, its installation and maintenance—to say nothing of drilling itself—tax deductable for ordinary rural citizens. (Don’t hold you breath.)
It is hard to imagine that the TSBP would not be fully supportive of measures to introduce this new form of taxation. Under the circumstances, metering seems like a given.

Shifting Health Priorities
I am agast to find out that SBP subsidizes youth hockey to the tune of $75 per player so they can play organized hockey outside of the Town, and doesn't apply a similar subsidy to other sports like soccer or baseball. It's time this $20k a year subsidy be cancelled and the money re-channelled into a Doctor recruitment subsidy. I'm sure there would be more improvement to a lot more people's quality of life here if a new doctor were to be recruited with the money instead of having kids play hockey in Lion's Head or Shallow Lake while the Wiarton arena continues to lose money.
Besides, I am a former soccer coach and do not follow nor have ever played hockey. I do, however, see a doctor occasionally, so I admit that I have a biased opinion. Food for thought.

Mayor's Broken Promise #1
Source: www.gwengilbert.com/faq.php (Mayor Gilbert's election website)
"Most Asked Questions & Answers
Q. How should water charges be fairly assessed for the town?
A. I believe that water meters would be fair. Citizens would then pay for the water that they use."
Mayor Gilbert voted against metering on February 12, 2007, against the recommendation from the Manager of Public Works.
Go figure.

PAS - Parental Alienation Syndrome
Wikipedia's description:
Parental Alienation Syndrome is a putative disorder proposed by Richard Gardner as "a disturbance in which children are obsessively preoccupied with depreciation and/or criticism of a parent. In other words, denigration that is unjustified and or exaggerated." Although Parental Alienation Syndrome has not gained official recognition as a psychological disorder, case law has recognized it in child custody disputes.
Just curious if anyone out there has experienced this and what they did to resolve or get around the syndrome to make contact with their children. Keep in mind, it can be parents, or grandparents.
