Dick Waugh's Article and More

Posted by hockey17 on March 19, 2008 - 4:26pm

I have stayed quiet lately, because what has been discussed here the past little while I have seen no need to comment on. Now I feel I have to say something. I agree with Gary that no sensible solutions to the perceived situation were put forth by Mr Waugh in his article. He said everyone was blaming everyone else so no progress was made. Is that not blaming on his part. Also, this same Mr Waugh was a councillor here himself back in the nineties. Why didn't he and Vince Artuso solve the problem back then. Who will they blame???

Re-KERR-ing

Posted by hockey17 on October 17, 2007 - 3:06pm

Just read in todays Sun Times on pg A3 by Phil McNichol that the South Bruce Peninsula council is going to look at getting rid of the ward system or at least change the ward boundaries. Pardon me if I'm wrong but didn't we have a referendum about this at the last election and we,the people, voted to keep the ward system. So much for the referendum. What's more interesting is who is spearheading the recommendation--Councillors Kerr and Harron. Can you guess, if it comes to a vote, which other 3 councillors will be voting for this ?? Why could these 2 less than effective individuals want this ?? So far neither one of them has done anything to move us ahead but plenty to mire us down. Kerr campaigned that he would get to the bottom of everything. So far, what has he got to the bottom of other than his drink glass. If Councillor Harron didn't have the agenda for each council meeting so she could color in all the alphabetic letters containing circles, she would accomplish nil also.

Another suggestion by these 2, is that we elect a deputy mayor as well as a mayor. Leads one to wonder which one of the 2 would be the mayor and the other his or her deputy. What about the cost?? From day 1, Kerr has been campaigning for the next election and appearing to try and make the present mayor look bad in the process. Is that why he was elected??? Is the shadow council of losers behind this too?? It's about time people who care about this town start letting those who are holding the visionaries on council back , to call these blockaders and tell them to get on with the job of moving us ahead or resign. Why do the silent majority stay so silent and let the stumbling blocks continue to get in the way of progress??

Council Mtg July 16

Attended last nights Council meeting and as usual it moved from the sublime to the ridiculous. To start off, there was a moments silence, followed by the Lord's Prayer. Two of the audience actually sat down during the prayer, obviously unaware of proper etiquette or just didn't care--those of us who do care, would like those who don't to either wait outside til the prayer is over or follow protocol, which says remain standing until the prayer is completed (What else, though, should we expect from louts).

Some Interesting Facts

Posted by hockey17 on June 27, 2007 - 7:52pm
First of all, through a friend I was able to contact a member of the Sauble parking committee who has been part of that committe since the start. Mark Wunderlich, in his usual sound bite grab, has said he feels there should be no paid parking and / or residents should park for free.He talks about the residents on Lakeshore having to pay. Why would they drive when they can walk across the street??? This same Mark Wunderlich never attended one meeting of the parking committee. If he is so interested in his constituents getting free parking why was he not attending and standing up for those same constituents ??? Councillor Vukovic, after her election, attended the meetings and spoke her piece. Where was Mark???

sore losers now in the sun times and out in the world

Posted by hockey17 on June 27, 2007 - 3:36pm

So now the Sun Times is running more ink on this subject....interesting to say the least. If all these councillors(the fab 4....Wunderlich, Hoath, Harron and Lamont..kerrr was off sick))who voted for the audit are sure that the mayor will be validated..then why the audit? If they had taken time to review the input that these two losers had submitted they could have had the mayor file an addendum for the in kind donation(a couple of hundred dollars at the best) and rejected the rest as not based in fact...but no dont do your job....hire an accountant at $100 per hour to come back and tell you the same thing but cost the ratepayers a lot of money.. I sure hope that when the dust settles these two losers are sent a bill for the work....not our tax dollars..and apologies all around

Sore Losers Try Again

Posted by hockey17 on June 12, 2007 - 12:26pm

I noticed today in the Sun Times Web site of future news that the 2 losing mayoral candidates in the TSBP ( Noble & Close) are again exhibiting their graciousness in defeat by now calling for an audit to check out the present mayors spendings during the election. When Noble said I will do anything to get rid of those 2 women (Pat Varley & Gwen Gilbert) he wasn't kidding !!! In my opinion, Close is along for the ride because he was told to be , by guess who!! Before this audit can happen it must be passed by council. Will it be?? Does this shadow council have enough minions on the present council to pass it?? What's your guess??

silence is golden

Posted by hockey17 on May 31, 2007 - 2:44pm

As I read these recent blogs and the area newspapers, I realise that the shadow council and its minions have been quite silent. We can only hope silenced for good, but that would be too good to be true! Could the sorry losers really be going to leave the Mayor and current council alone,so that they can move us forward and make positive changes in this town. I hope so!!

According to the Sun Times, this council is planning on taking relationship building seminars which are important to have in place, so that they can ALL work together to build a viable, positive plan for our town. Will the shadow cabinet let this happen or will they try to throw a wrench into the works through negative inuendos or smearing or the like. Will council let it happen???
