'Tis the season

Posted by KeeMay on March 23, 2007 - 9:27pm

Yep. It's time to tap those sugar maple.

Inspired by the sight of buckets sitting beside numerous trees just around the corner from our house, the boys want to try and make some maple syrup this year. I gleefully took on a science project.

Sauble Sunset

Posted by KeeMay on March 17, 2007 - 12:25am

It's -4 Celcius and clear sky outside. A pretty chilly night in March. Maybe, a slideshow of Sauble sunset will warm you up?

We only has a relatively cheap digital camera, but some of the pictures it has taken are amazing, considering it does not contain any special features. However, we cannot tell you how the colors of some of the pictures turned out to be so amazing.

Hole in the ground

Posted by KeeMay on March 15, 2007 - 9:18pm
First day of March Break, our boys dig that hole in the yard. It was deep enough to cover them way over their shoulders when they put their heads in it. This winter might have come late, but we certainly cannot complain that we did not get enough snow. Wonder if there will be any more snow day after March Break?

Sauble Sandfest Baby Contest

Posted by KeeMay on August 9, 2004 - 5:13pm

Long preceeding Sauble Sandfest, the baby contest is in its 31st year. Since 1996, Amabel-Sauble Child Care Centre has been the organiser of the event. This year, the centre also ran the face painting booth.

Despite that the morning temperature barely reached 2 digits, anxious parents from near and far arrived early at the beach for the opportunity to show off their prescious babies. Out of a total of 33 participants, judges Jay Kirkland, Debby Arnold and Rachelle Barker selected 3 lovable baby boys and 3 lovable baby girls, who then competed for the titles of Sandfest King and Queen. The awards went to Jackson Perusini and Lyndsay Williams respectively.

The joint effort of volunteers and sponsors have made this year's Sandfest Baby Contest a success and painted wonderful colors on many faces.

A new beginning, Amable-Sauble Child Care Centre

Posted by KeeMay on May 28, 2004 - 10:57am

The Annual General Meeting of Amabel-Sauble Child Care Centre was held on May 26, 2004. On behalf of the Centre, I would like to thank all parents and and community members who attended the meeting. Special thanks is extended to volunteers who served as board members in the term of 2003/2004. Resignations from 3 last year's members have been received and accepted. Everything comes alive

Posted by KeeMay on March 25, 2004 - 11:38pm

Driving Linton to work today, I noticed how much snow had melted and we could almost see green pastures. Gary said that a cardinal flew right over his head when he was dumping veggie ends into our composter this morning.

Spring is here, and things are coming alive. This includes SBP. Returning from a 2-week break - one week down in Toronto during March break, one week to catch up with house work etc. after the holiday - I noticed that our membership has increased in size. A warm welcome to those who have joined out membership in the past 2 weeks.

A Teaser

Posted by KeeMay on March 2, 2004 - 12:11am

Hang in there, winter is almost over. This week, the weather is warm enough for taking long walks. Something is missing though. After having to look at snow for 2 months, our eyes are yearning for something soothing, something green.

Watch out for snowboarders

Posted by KeeMay on February 29, 2004 - 6:03pm

If you travel frequently on Sauble Falls Parkway between Sauble Beach and Oliphant, you may have noticed that around the bend just past TNT Market, there are always a couple of cars parked at the bottom of the snow hill on the east(?) side. Snowboarders are there perfecting their skills. It is not likely that these athletes will come flying down the gentle slop and landing on the highway. However, be prepared for the distraction.

Interesting Signs

Posted by KeeMay on February 15, 2004 - 10:41pm

no-pipeline handbill
This sign appeared at the busy intersection in Hepworth this afternoon. It may have something to do with the local politicians' recent heated debate on sewage management. However, it is curious that instead of no sewer, the sign says no pipeline. Can somebody fill me in here?

Looks like there maybe an interesting story revealing.
