Lauren Best and the Renegade Company appear for two nights at the Rocky Raccoon Cafe.
The first evening, August 5th, will feature a selection of original material by Best from both her upcoming debut album and more recent creations. The Renegade Company for the evening features Tyler Wagler on bass Roselyn Brown on saxophone and flute.
Be sure to check out the second evening too, a benefit concert for Sheatre!

The Rocky Raccoon Café strengthens it reputation for innovative
entertainment by promoting two nights of concerts with Lauren Best.
“Since I arrived in Owen Sound, I have watched Lauren’s star rise”
said Robin Pradham, the owner of Rocky Raccoon. “The Rocky Raccoon is a
place for the community to come together. At such an important point
in a rising star’s career, the chance to host an event like this is a
once in a lifetime opportunity”.
Emerging singer-songwriter Lauren Best celebrates her formative
years as a performing artist in Owen Sound at our own Rocky Raccoon
Café on August 5th and 6th. The 5th will feature a selection of
original material by Best from both her upcoming debut album and more recent
creations. Both evenings will feature a backing band of Roselyn Brown
on saxophone and flute and Tyler Wagler on bass. Born and raised in
Owen Sound, Wagler is no stranger to Owen Sound audiences as a
soloist, backing bassist, and member of Backwoods Justice.
Multi-instrumentalist and recording artist Brown has deep connections
to this area, having toured internationally with and been married to
Owen Sound’s Tommy Earlls, widely known for his big band, Tommy Earlls
and The International Untouchables.
The 6th will be a benefit ‘Concert for Sheatre with Lauren and
Friends’, featuring Liz Zetlin, original material by Tyler Wagler, and
multimedia from Sheatre’s past projects. Sheatre is a popular theatre
and community arts organization which “inspires creative expression and
transformative learning through workshops and artistic productions”.
They produce relevant and rousing performance and visual art “by, for,
and about communities”.
“Owen Sound has raised me well and now I am in transition as I
spend more time in Toronto working on my debut album,” she said. “The
6th is my birthday, and as I move forward in my career I wanted to
give something back to my community.”
The concerts start at 9, with doors opening at 8:30 pm on August
5th. On August 6th doors open at 8 pm and there will be a light menu
with proceeds going to Sheatre. Tickets may be purchased at the door
for $10 at the Rocky Raccoon Cafe at in Owen Sound.
To reserve tickets please call 519 374 0500 or visit the Rocky
Raccoon.
